Chapter 17 - 'Saved by GOD'

A) Hit & Run

I was crossing the highway. When I reached the middle of the road, a sudden gust of wind blew dust into my eyes. I couldn't see anything and felt completely lost.

Suddenly, a fast car hit me. I was thrown into the air and landed a short distance away. The driver did not stop and sped off. I was knocked out and became unconscious.

When I woke up, a crowd was standing around me. A lady was helping me, cradling my head in her lap, and someone offered me some water.

I felt completely fine. People could not believe that I was okay after such a bad accident.

Because it was Navratri, someone in the crowd said that the Goddess had saved me. That evening, I went to the ‘Devi Durga’ temple to offer my thanks.

I got saved by GOD.

B) High Tide

I went to visit a beach with some friends. The waves were quite far away, so we started walking toward them to get a closer look. A young man, who was like a younger brother to me, wanted to bath in the sea. I gave him permission.

He went into the water until water-level reached his knees and asked me to join him. At first, I refused, but eventually, I agreed.

We all were enjoying ourselves, but the water level started rising. Soon, the waves were 1 or 2 feet above our heads. We heard people whistling from the shore but didn't understand why.

The water rose even higher—3 to 5 feet above our heads—and the sea began pulling us in. We decided to get out. That’s when we realized the people whistling were coast guards warning us to come back because of the high-tide.

Every time we took two steps toward the shore, the water pulled us one step back. It took us about 30 to 45 minutes to reach the shore safely. We had gone almost 1 km inside from the beach.

I got saved by GOD.

C) Bike Accident

I was riding my bike on the road. There was an oil tanker ahead of me. Oil was leaking from the tanker, creating a wide slick right in the middle of the road. My bike tires hit that oil strip.

Suddenly, I reached a speed breaker. I couldn't control the bike and was thrown into the air. I landed several meters away and became unconscious.

Some road construction laborers working on a nearby site came to help me.

I had several injuries, and my clothes were torn. The buckle of my belt was badly scratched; that buckle actually saved my stomach from a serious injury. My helmet was cracked, my shoulder was dislocated, and I had a hairline fracture in my foot."

I got saved by GOD.

D) Car Accident

I had been traveling continuously for the last two days, and I was very tired. My car was parked at the airport. I landed very early in the morning and started my journey toward my hometown.

All the shops were closed at that hour, so I could not find any refreshments on the road.

My car’s speed was quite high. I am not even sure at what point I fell asleep.

Suddenly, my car hit the divider. It bounced high and overturned. I woke up instantly, feeling that I would not survive.

I saw a bright light. I don't know what happened next, but eventually, I found my car parked on the left side of the road.

I got saved by GOD.

E) Quicksand

I reached the seashore in the evening. The waves were quite far away, so I started walking toward them to get a closer look. It was not a safe area. I passed through a fishing village.

I was walking straight ahead when suddenly, both of my feet began sinking into the mud. I was sinking continuously. I felt helpless; there was no one to help me. The local villagers were too far away, and I couldn't call out to them for help.

I was terrified. I thought to myself, "Now I am stuck." I knew I had to save myself only.

I applied the laws of physics: I shifted my body angle and position with all my effort to distribute my weight, giving myself more time.

By then, half of my body was submerged. I had very little time left. Slowly, I shifted my weight until I finally touched something steady. I came out safely.

I got saved by GOD.

F) Chinese thread

It was the Uttrayan festival in Gujarat. I went out to have breakfast in the morning, riding my bike on the highway. Usually, people celebrate the kite festival on their terraces.

However, there were some small children flying kites on the highway. They were using Chinese thread, and the kite was flying very low.

My neck/head got caught in the thread. I was traveling at a speed of around 40–50 km/h.

I sustained a deep cut on my face. I was saved by only two inches; if the thread had been slightly lower, it would have cut my neck. In that case, anything could have happened.

I got saved by GOD.

G) Mob Lynching

A customer called me to his site, so I went to meet him. I explained the product to him, but he asked for an additional favor that I did not have the authority to provide. I politely declined, which made him upset; his ego was hurt.

He called people over and falsely accused me. He said something to them in the local language that I did not understand. Suddenly, everyone started beating me. I was trapped among a few hundred people.

It was a terrifying moment of mob lynching.

I was very fortunate, however. A gentleman—a security guard—stepped in and saved me from the crowd.

I got saved by GOD.

H) Lightning Struck

I stepped out of my house. It was raining. Suddenly, lightning struck the road only a few feet away from me. Anything could have happened.

I got saved by GOD.

I) Fall of tree

I was riding my bike on the road. It was raining, and the wind speed was quite high. I was traveling at a speed of 40–50 km/h. Suddenly, a tree fell right ahead of my bike. It was too close. I was saved by just half a second.

I got saved by GOD.

J) Mini bus Accident

There is a famous story from the Ramayana where Shri Ram struck an arrow into the ground, and hot water gushed out. I planned a trip to visit that sacred place and had a wonderful darshan.

While returning, I was riding my bike on a narrow, single-lane road. There were agricultural farms on the right and a lake on the left. I was traveling at approximately 70 km/h.

Suddenly, a mini-bus coming from the opposite direction lost control and started veering toward me. I had nowhere to go because of the lake and the farms; I had only one or two seconds to react.

I felt certain I would not survive, so I closed my eyes. Then, a miracle happened.

The mini-bus, which was headed straight for me, suddenly swerved to the left. Fortunately, it did not go into the lake and came to a halt. The driver was also completely fine.

I got saved by GOD.

K) Deep Valley

I went for a trek in the Brahmagiri mountains. I was alone, and it was early morning. It was raining, and the path was slippery. There was a deep valley on my left side, and there was no mobile network.

I saw many monkeys sitting along the way, but I continued my trek. Suddenly, a monkey jumped and landed on my shoulder.

I was terrified. I almost lost my balance right next to the deep valley, but I somehow managed to steady myself.

I got saved by GOD.

L) Swing ride

I went to attend a fair (mela). I chose to go on the most daring amusement ride. The attendant put a belt on me for my safety, but the buckle was not functioning. The attendant somehow tied the belt in a knot instead of locking it.

I did not realize the risk at the time.

The ride started, and soon I was hanging in the air with my head toward the ground. Since the belt was not locked and was only tied, the knot was starting to come undone.

Anything could have happened. I held on to the ride as tightly as I could. I closed my eyes and prayed. Fortunately, I made it through safely.

I got saved by GOD.

M) Slipped from train

I traveled to my hometown to attend a festival. When the train stopped at the station, I was in the general coach. My coach was positioned so far back from the platform.

I stood in the queue to get off, and suddenly, I received a phone call. I was carrying a heavy bag on my back.

I answered the call, holding the railing with one hand and my phone in the other.

As I was stepping down, I lost my balance. I fell onto the railway tracks, and my right shoulder became dislocated. Another train was about to arrive from the opposite direction.

I could not move, but fortunately, some people helped me up. Thankfully, nothing more serious happened.

I got saved by GOD.
